Topic: The Eternal Nature of God

Key Verse:

Psalm 90:2 (KJV) – "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God."

Introduction: The Eternal Nature of God

One of the most profound mysteries of God is His eternal existence. Unlike humans or creation, God has no beginning and no end—He simply IS. Understanding this concept is key to deepening faith, because it reminds us that God is unchangeable, all-powerful, and beyond human limitations.

1. God Has Always Existed

Revelation 22:13 (KJV) – "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."

The Bible teaches that God is not created—He always was, and He always will be. He is the origin of all things, yet He Himself has no origin. This truth sets Him apart from every other being in existence.

2. God Exists Outside of Time

Isaiah 57:15 (KJV) – "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity."

Unlike human life, which has a clear beginning and end, God is not bound by time. He exists in eternity, meaning that past, present, and future are all within His control.

Discussion Questions:

How does knowing that God is eternal affect your faith?

Why is it important to trust in a God who never changes?

3. The Creator Who Was Never Created

Genesis 1:1 (KJV) – "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

Everything we know—earth, life, the universe—had a beginning. But before any of it existed, God already was. He is the uncaused cause, meaning He is the source of all creation without being created Himself.

Example: Moses’ Encounter with God

In Exodus 3:14, when Moses asked for God’s name, He replied: "I AM THAT I AM."

This powerful declaration means God is self-existent—He depends on nothing and has always been.

4. What Does God’s Eternity Mean for Us?

Because God has no beginning or end, it means:

His promises never expire. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

His power never fades. (Hebrews 13:8)

He is always present. (Psalm 46:1)

Personal Reflection:

How does knowing that God is eternal bring peace to your life?

What areas of your faith need to grow in trusting His timeless nature?

Conclusion: Trusting the God Who Never Fails

God is the eternal, unchanging, all-powerful Creator. His existence is beyond human understanding, yet we can trust that because He has always been faithful, He will continue to be faithful forever.
