Ephesians 6:11 (KJV) – "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
In any battle, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, preparation determines victory. No soldier enters war without training, no athlete competes without conditioning, and no warrior fights effectively without proper nutrition. Before engaging in any fight in life, you must change your diet, both spiritually and physically.
Just as an unhealthy diet weakens the body, feeding on negativity, doubt, and worldly distractions weakens the spirit. To stand strong against the enemy, believers must consume God’s Word, surround themselves with truth, and feed on righteousness instead of lies.
Let’s explore ten ways to fight the enemy and win, ensuring that before battle, we are spiritually nourished, trained, and armed for victory.
1. Strengthen Your Spiritual Diet Before Fighting
A weak body cannot endure a physical battle, and a weak spirit cannot withstand a spiritual war. Before stepping into any matter of life, adjust your spiritual diet—fill yourself with prayer, fasting, scripture, and godly influences.
Matthew 4:4 (KJV) – "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
Victory begins before the battle starts—if your spirit is fed on truth, you will stand unshaken.
How to adjust your diet:
Read and meditate on scripture daily.
Remove negative influences that drain your faith.
Stay in fellowship with believers who encourage growth.
2. Know Your Opponent Before You Fight
No warrior fights blindly—they study their opponent’s tactics and weaknesses. Spiritually, understanding how the enemy operates helps in defeating him.
2 Corinthians 2:11 (KJV) – "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices."
Satan’s strategy includes deception, temptation, distractions, and fear. Knowing this helps you counter his attacks effectively.
Ways to prepare:
Stay alert—don’t ignore signs of spiritual warfare.
Identify weaknesses the enemy tries to exploit.
Guard your mind against lies and temptation.
3. Put on the Whole Armour of God
A fighter never enters the ring without protective gear. Spiritually, believers need God’s armor for defense and offense.
Ephesians 6:13-17 (KJV) – "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God… having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness."
Each piece of armor serves a purpose:
Belt of Truth – Secures against deception.
Breastplate of Righteousness – Guards against corruption.
Shield of Faith – Blocks attacks of doubt and fear.
Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) – Strikes down the enemy’s lies.
4. Strengthen Your Endurance with Prayer and Fasting
In battle, endurance is crucial—without stamina, even the strongest fighter fails. Prayer and fasting increase spiritual strength, preparing believers for war.
Matthew 17:21 (KJV) – "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."
How to use this weapon:
Pray daily and consistently—not just in emergencies.
Fast to break strongholds and hear God’s direction.
Approach prayer with expectation, knowing God answers.
5. Use the Word of God as a Weapon
A warrior fights with a sharp sword—spiritually, scripture is the weapon that destroys the enemy’s attacks.
Hebrews 4:12 (KJV) – "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword."
Jesus used scripture against Satan (Matthew 4:1-11), showing how declaring God’s truth breaks deception.
Ways to use the Word effectively:
Memorize key scriptures for battles.
Speak God’s promises aloud during struggles.
Apply scripture in daily decisions to remain spiritually armed.
6. Resist the Enemy—Do Not Entertain His Lies
A fighter must stay focused—if they let distractions take over, they lose. Spiritually, entertaining sin, doubt, and deception weakens believers.
James 4:7 (KJV) – "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
Satan tempts through thoughts, circumstances, and people—resisting him makes him lose power.
How to resist effectively:
Shut down thoughts that contradict God’s Word.
Surround yourself with godly influences instead of worldly distractions.
Choose obedience over temporary pleasure.
7. Walk in Authority, Not Fear
A weak fighter doubts their ability to win, making them vulnerable. In spiritual warfare, believers must stand in authority, not fear.
Luke 10:19 (KJV) – "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy."
Fear opens doors for attacks, but standing boldly closes them.
Ways to walk in power:
Declare victory in Christ every day.
Act in faith—not in fear or hesitation.
Know that Satan has already lost through Jesus.
8. Praise and Worship as a Weapon
Victorious fighters celebrate before the fight is over because they know the win is secured. Spiritually, worship declares victory before results manifest.
2 Chronicles 20:22 (KJV) – "And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten."
Praise confuses the enemy—worship shifts spiritual atmospheres.
Ways to fight with praise:
Worship even in tough times—this weakens enemy attacks.
Declare God’s greatness over struggles.
Use music and spoken praise to change spiritual atmospheres.
9. Stay Connected to a Godly Community
A fighter with a strong team has greater chances of victory. Spiritually, community strengthens believers against attacks.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (KJV) – "Two are better than one...For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow."
The enemy targets isolated believers, knowing they are easier to weaken.
Ways to strengthen community:
Stay involved in church, mentorship, and accountability.
Pray with others—not just alone.
Encourage fellow believers and receive encouragement when needed.
10. Trust God Fully for Victory
A fighter trusts their training before battle—spiritually, believers must trust God’s plan and fight with faith.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) – "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
Victory is not based on human strength—it comes from God’s power and guidance.
Ways to trust for victory:
Stop worrying—God has already secured the win.
Pray without doubt—believe He hears and answers.
Surrender every matter to Him—His plan is greater than yours.
Conclusion: Victory Is Already Yours
Romans 8:37 (KJV) – "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us."
Before any battle in life, adjust your diet—fill yourself with God’s truth instead of distractions. Prepare, fight, and walk in victory knowing that Satan has already lost and Christ has already won.
