"Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord." — 1 Corinthians 15:58
To remain in the faith and doctrine is to stand firm in the truth of God’s Word, refusing to be swayed by false teachings, cultural influences, or personal doubts. It means holding onto the unwavering foundation of Christ’s teachings, allowing them to shape our lives, guide our decisions, and secure our eternal destiny. In a world filled with distractions, compromises, and shifting ideologies, remaining in faith and sound doctrine is more important than ever.
What Does It Mean to Remain in the Faith?
Faith is more than belief—it is steadfast trust, unwavering commitment, and continual reliance on God. It is the conviction that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the anchor of our souls.
The Apostle Paul exhorts believers in Colossians 2:6-7: "As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving."
To remain in the faith means:
Holding onto Christ in every season—whether in joy or suffering, in abundance or lack.
Trusting in His promises despite what circumstances may say.
Guarding your heart and mind from doubt, fear, and worldly deception.
Living a life that reflects His truth—obedience to His commands, surrender to His will, and a love for His ways.
Faith is not passive—it requires action, growth, and endurance. It is standing firm in the midst of trials, knowing that God is faithful, and refusing to be shaken by life's storms.
What Does It Mean to Remain in Sound Doctrine?
Doctrine refers to the teachings and instructions given in the Word of God. Remaining in sound doctrine means rejecting false ideologies, staying rooted in biblical truth, and ensuring that our lives align with God’s original design rather than man’s distorted views.
Paul warns in 2 Timothy 4:3-4: "For the time will come when people will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, they will gather teachers to say what they want to hear, turning away from truth to myths."
We live in a time where many distort the gospel, where false teachers promote compromise, self-gratification, and deception. But sound doctrine is not based on opinion—it is based on the unchanging truth of God’s Word.
To remain in sound doctrine means:
Studying the Scriptures diligently, ensuring we are not deceived.
Testing all teachings against the Word of God, rejecting those that contradict the Bible.
Holding onto God’s commands, even when the world pressures us to do otherwise.
Preaching and living truth, leading others to sound doctrine rather than watered-down messages.
Compromise is dangerous. A distorted gospel leads to deception. Remaining in sound doctrine means standing boldly for truth, unafraid of opposition, and unwilling to bend for the sake of acceptance.
How Do We Remain in Faith and Doctrine?
1. Stay Anchored in the Word of God
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." — Psalm 119:105
God’s Word illuminates truth. If we do not remain in the Word, we become vulnerable to deception. Daily study, meditation, and application of Scripture secure our foundation.
2. Develop a Consistent Prayer Life
"Pray without ceasing." — 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Prayer is our lifeline to God. It strengthens our faith, brings clarity, and aligns our hearts with His will. Remaining steadfast in prayer ensures that we walk in spiritual discernment.
3. Guard Against False Teachings and Deception
"Test all things; hold fast to what is good." — 1 Thessalonians 5:21
The enemy thrives on distorted truths, watered-down theology, and deception. We must remain vigilant, test every teaching against God’s Word, and refuse to accept anything that contradicts Scripture.
4. Live Out Your Faith in Obedience
"Be doers of the word, not hearers only." — James 1:22
Faith is not just belief—it is action. Remaining in faith means living according to God’s commands, walking in righteousness, and reflecting Christ in every aspect of life.
5. Stay Connected to the Body of Christ
"Do not forsake assembling together." — Hebrews 10:25
The church is essential. Fellowship strengthens us, encourages accountability, and ensures we remain firm in sound doctrine. Isolation is dangerous—community helps us stay rooted.
Final Encouragement
To remain in faith and doctrine is to stand firm in truth, walk in obedience, and never compromise the gospel. The world may change, deception may rise, but God’s Word remains unshaken.
Today, commit to:
Staying rooted in Scripture
Guarding against false teachings
Living in obedience to God
Walking in unwavering faith
Stay steadfast. Remain unshaken. Hold onto the truth.
Because in the end, only what is founded in Christ will stand.
Amen!
