Forgiveness is one of the most powerful acts of faith and obedience to God. It allows us to release resentment, heal from past wounds, and align our hearts with God’s will. The Bible teaches us that forgiveness is not just for others—it is also for our own spiritual freedom.
Key Scriptures on Forgiveness:
Matthew 6:14-15 (KJV) – "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
Colossians 3:13 (KJV) – "Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."
Luke 6:37 (KJV) – "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven."
Prayer for the Strength to Forgive
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart that longs for healing and peace. Your Word teaches me that forgiveness is essential, yet I struggle to let go of past hurts. Lord, I ask for Your strength to release bitterness and resentment.
Jesus, You forgave even those who crucified You, saying, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34, KJV) Help me to follow Your example and extend grace to those who have wronged me.
Lord, I surrender my pain to You. "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28, KJV) Replace my burden with Your peace and teach me to love as You love.
I choose to forgive, not because it is easy, but because You have commanded it. "Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." (Ephesians 4:32, KJV) May Your Spirit guide me in this journey of healing.
Thank You, Lord, for Your mercy and grace. I trust in Your power to transform my heart.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
