Many people spend their lives wishing for things to happen, hoping that circumstances will change or that their desires will be fulfilled. But as believers, we are called to do more than wish—we are called to have faith in God and trust that His Word will bring His promises to pass. Mark 11:23-24 (KJV) declares, "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."
Faith is not passive—it is active. It requires us to speak God’s Word, trust His promises, and refuse to waver in our belief. Here are five ways that when we place our hope and trust in God and speak His Word without wavering, we can receive what we ask for, according to His will.
1. Speak God’s Word with Confidence
Faith begins with declaring God’s promises over our lives. The Bible teaches that our words have power, and when we speak in faith, we activate God’s will. Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."
Instead of wishing for change, speak life over your situation. Declare healing, provision, and breakthrough according to God’s Word. Isaiah 55:11 (KJV) assures us, "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
When we speak God’s Word with confidence, we align ourselves with His promises, and His power is released to bring them to pass.
2. Trust in God’s Timing and Will
Faith is not just about believing—it is about trusting God’s timing and His perfect will. Sometimes, we pray for things that are not in alignment with His plan, or we expect immediate results. But God knows what is best for us, and He answers according to His wisdom.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV) reminds us, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." When we pray, we must trust that God will bring His promises to pass at the right time.
Jesus Himself taught us to pray according to God’s will. Matthew 6:10 (KJV) says, "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." When we surrender our desires to God’s will, we can be confident that He will fulfill His promises in the best way possible.
3. Refuse to Doubt—Stand Firm in Faith
Doubt is the enemy of faith. When we allow uncertainty to creep in, we weaken our ability to receive from God. James 1:6-7 (KJV) warns, "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord."
Faith requires boldness and perseverance. Even when circumstances seem impossible, we must stand firm and believe that God is working behind the scenes. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) defines faith as, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
When we refuse to doubt and continue to trust in God’s promises, we position ourselves to receive His blessings.
4. Pray with Expectation and Thanksgiving
Faith-filled prayer is not just asking—it is expecting. When we pray, we must believe that God hears us and will answer according to His will. Philippians 4:6 (KJV) instructs, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
Instead of wishing for things to happen, pray with expectation and thank God in advance for His provision. 1 John 5:14-15 (KJV) assures us, "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him."
When we pray with faith and thanksgiving, we demonstrate our trust in God’s ability to fulfill His promises.
5. Walk in Obedience and Righteousness
Faith is not just about believing—it is about living in obedience to God’s Word. If we want to receive His promises, we must walk in righteousness and align our lives with His will. Psalm 84:11 (KJV) says, "For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."
Jesus emphasized the importance of obedience in receiving God’s blessings. John 15:7 (KJV) says, *"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."
When we live according to God’s principles, we position ourselves to receive His promises. Faith is not just about asking—it is about walking in alignment with His will.
Conclusion: Faith Brings God’s Promises to Pass
Wishing for things to happen is passive, but faith is active. When we place our hope and trust in God, speak His Word without wavering, and align ourselves with His will, we can receive whatsoever we ask, according to His purpose.
Faith moves mountains, breaks barriers, and releases God’s power into our lives. Mark 9:23 (KJV) declares, "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth."
So don’t just wish— believe. Speak God’s promises, trust His timing, refuse to doubt, pray with expectation, and walk in obedience. When you do, you will see His Word come to pass in your life, bringing blessings beyond what you could ever imagine!
